Bond-All PLUS+ High-Performance Multi-Surface Acrylic Bonding & Metal Primer
Bond-All Primer PLUS+ is a high-performance, water-based bonding and metal primer engineered for superior adhesion on hard-to-paint surfaces. It provides exceptional bonding, wet adhesion, and fast drying, making it an excellent choice for interior and exterior applications. Compatible with water-based, solvent-based, and high-performance topcoats, it is ideal for application on a wide variety of bare and previously painted surfaces, including wood, drywall, plaster, stucco, concrete, masonry, enamel paints, Kynar, Silicone Modified Polyester (SMP) coated steel, and other challenging substrates. It also performs well on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Surface Preparation & Application
General Cleaning
- Remove grease, wax, oil, dirt, loose paint, and surface contaminants.
- For chalky, oxidized surfaces, use Zap-It! Chalk & Grime Buster.
Painted Surfaces
- Remove all loose and peeling paint.
- Scuff or abrade glossy surfaces with silicon carbide sandpaper, Scotch-Brite®, or similar mediums to improve adhesion.
Metal & Specialty Surfaces
Kynar® & Silicone Polyester
- For best adhesion, all smooth or glossy surfaces should be lightly abraded to create a surface profile.
- If applying Bond-All Primer PLUS+ to these surfaces without abrasion, perform at least two test patches in different areas to confirm acceptable adhesion, especially on exterior wet or horizontal surfaces subject to standing water, pooling, or ponding.
Galvanized & Aluminum
- Remove any loose, powdery, or scaling materials and clean thoroughly.
Bare or Rusting Ferrous Metal
- Remove loose rust, scale, or oxidation using a wire brush, sanding, or other mechanical means.
- For light rust: Apply Bond-All Primer PLUS+ directly after cleaning.
- For heavy rust: A rust-inhibiting iron primer may be applied first before using Bond-All Primer PLUS+.
Other Conditions
- For below-grade or submersion applications, a rubberized or elastomeric waterproof topcoat is recommended.
Application & Drying Times
- Apply using conventional, airless, or assisted-airless spray, brush, or roller.
- Ideal application temperature: 40°F–100°F (surface & surrounding air).
- Avoid application in direct sun or if temperatures will drop below 35°F before drying.
Dry Time (@ 77°F, 50% RH)
- Dry-to-touch: 30–45 minutes
- Recoat with water-based coatings: 2 hours
- Recoat with solvent-based coatings: 4 hours
- Recoat with high-performance or 2K products: 12 hours
- Full cure: 7–10 days
Thinning & Mixing
- Ready to use as packaged; if thinning is needed, use water sparingly to avoid sagging.
- Mix thoroughly before use and after thinning.
Shelf Life & Storage
- Shelf life: 3 years from the manufacture date if stored below 120°F.
- Do Not Freeze! Product will not recover if frozen.
Clean-Up
- Use warm, soapy water for spills, drips, and cleaning tools immediately after use.
- Follow spray equipment manufacturer guidelines for proper cleaning.

Definitions
-
Wet Adhesion
-
Wet adhesion refers to the primer's ability to maintain a strong bond even when applied to slightly damp surfaces or exposed to moisture after curing. This helps prevent peeling, lifting, or delamination over time.
-
Flash Rust Resistance
-
Flash rust resistance refers to a primer's ability to prevent the rapid formation of rust on freshly cleaned metal surfaces before topcoating.
-
Stain Blocking
-
Stain blocking is the ability of a primer to prevent stains, tannins, and other discolorations from bleeding through the topcoat.
